Do you tap or do you hit?!

This morning i was talking to Skyler and Emily! and Oh my freaking gosh we had the weirdest conversation..... It started with Emily talking about her heart break and it all went down hill...

*skyler hits Emily*
S: You know Joe would rather you hit him than me
*She hits him again*
me: I thought the term was tap
Them: WHAT?
Me: I thought it was "Tap him" not "hit him"
S:hahaha yea well i guess when you tap it's gentle and when you hit it's hard like two wild bores
